Leave Something for the Archaeologists
| Meidum 2004-02-12 4:34 pm It's Not Enough/I've Come Undone/Trying to Find Sense Where There Is None... You people throw around a lot of words. Do you know what they mean before you throw them at each other? There are SO MANY people in this world that are really trying to hurt us. Instead of standing together against them, we divide ourselves through distance, physical, and in our hearts and heads. We strike at those we love, those we call "family", because of some mistake, some harsh word or deed, much regretted, but which we are unable to take back. Years from now, the regrets we have will be for those that we lost somewhere along the way, and we'll ask ourselves, if we loved them, could we have given them another chance? Whatever they've done, you've got to look at it, from some place in yourself where you can't be clouded by hurt. Look at them with objectivity. Ask yourself: "Did they mean to hurt me?" And you know the answer. If it's "no", then why are you hurting yourself with the loss of them? Take the word of someone who has lost much and many... It's not worth it. Life really is too short. That's not just some cliche. Before you know what hit you, it's going to be over. What do you think you'll regret? What will you wish you could change? I have a thousand regrets, and not time enough in which to forgive myself for them. I'm not so blessed as to have friends enough to afford to throw them away. We damage each other. That's what we do. We're human. There are so many people who will hurt us in malice. We only have each other to help us pick up the pieces of our lives. If we lose even one of the people who put us back together, we remain forever incomplete. I don't know about you, but I think I've already lost enough pieces of myself to fill a hundred thousand lifetimes...
